It's that time of the year again for the August sword and Port evening at RMC.
I'll be heading down to Canberra on Thursday 17th.
I've enjoyed each Sword and Port evening and it's great to see the turnout, also to see what all the other businesses have to offer our Australian Officer cadets who are starting out in thier Officer careers.
It's an absolute privilege to be invited to these events and I'm excited to showcase our new 'premium leather range' of Sam Browne.
I have been wanting for so very long, to make a Sam Browne kit from the famous Sedgwick leather Tannery in the UK. I have been able to source Sedwick leather and have finally made a kit ready for display at this Sword and Port evening at Duntroon.
Sedgwick leather in the UK have a quote on thier page which I absolutely love...
“WITHOUT CRAFTSMANSHIP, INSPIRATION IS A MERE REED SHAKEN IN THE WIND.”
~ JOHANNES BRAHMS
Well, I can tell you working with the sedwick leather has been an absolute delight for a leather maker such as myself. Not only is the quality far beyond anything I've worked with, but the finish is exquisite. I'm unsure if there's actually a Sam Browne out there in Australia that has been made with this leather but we have already had orders in the last 3 weeks of advertising it, if you want top notch quality and to stand out from the crowd, then Sedgwick is the way to go.
The best thing about this leather, to me and my father who has served most of his life, is the finish. It's very easy to polish (almost parade ready without polishing), and coupled with our removable brass and the fact it'll last you your career, it's definitely a one of a kind.
I'll post pictures of the sedwick kit this week. Watch this space.
Cheers all
