We are a family run business that take great pride in our leather products.  All leather goods are hand made and hand stitched and we are well known for our detailed designs and finishes.  We specialise in military straps, belts and Sam Browne ceremonial wear along with other products such as wallets, bags, belts and much more. The founder of Douglas Leather, Jock Douglas, has served both in the British Army and Australian Army and has many years experience with ceremonial, parade and army leather wear.    My father started making military Sam Browne belts and straps as  a hobby whilst still in the army.  With his army contacts throughout the country he quickly made a great name for himself and was receiving orders from all over Australia, by word of mouth alone.  Most customers and friends were extremely happy with the quality and effort put into each product and  would specifically comment on the standard of edging, materials used and finishing of the Sam Browne.  When my father retired from the army he passed on his knowledge and skills to me, Douglas leather still produces exquisite leather products with the same attention to detail and finished quality product.

A little about our family name, 'Douglas':

Douglas Clan Crest: On a chapeau, a green salamander surrounded by fire.

Douglas Clan Motto: Jamais Arriere (Never behind).

Meaning: Anglicised form of the Scottish surname Dubhghlas, meaning "dark river" from Gaelic dubh "dark" and glais "water, river" Douglas was originally a place name, which then became a Scottish clan name borne by a powerful line of earls. It has been used as a given name since the 16th century.

With most of our products you are able to customise yours when you buy.  We can put any buckle you like on many different coloured belts, we can emboss names into belts, wallets, dog collars and even Sam Browne belts whether its for a special occasion like a birthday, wedding or ceremony.

We also offer repairs and restoration or polishing to many leather items including belts, saddles, bridles, wallets; the list is endless.  We can also shorten belts, replace straps (keeping your own belt buckle) and restitch some items.
